If you do the math for the overall rating, you'll see that I rounded
up. Why? Because of the incredible wildlife experiences.
The Galapagos Islands are a rare, unique and utterly extraordinary
experience where the wildlife is concerned, and if I were to give
extra credit for overseas adventure travel experiences, the
Galapagos Islands would get another star.
If you're looking for rich cultural experiences you would be better
off staying in Ecuador, but if you're interested in wildlife you
won't do better than the Galapagos Islands.

The bottom line: In a nutshell, the reason people go to the
Galapagos Islands is for the wildlife viewing experiences, and they
are absolutely phenomenal.
What could be more exotic than getting up close and personal with
some of the most interesting wildlife you'll ever see? Go nose to
nose with a Galapagos giant tortoise, sunbath with curious sea lions
and walk right up to a blue-footed booby and introduce yourself.
The beautiful coastline and clear blue water are punctuated with
interesting rock formations like the arch off Wolf Island, and the
volcanic origins of these islands offer spectacular landscapes.
The wildlife alone whether on land or in the sea provides more
than enough exotic justification for adventure travel Galapagos Islands
tours,
and the incredible landscapes are just icing on the cake.
There are no indigenous peoples on the Galapagos Islands and you're
not going to find the fine museums or exquisite architecture here.
You'll have to go to mainland Ecuador for that.
The two stars are pretty much for the culture inherent in the
wonderful people from the mainland who inhabit these islands.
When compared to other places reviewed on this Web site, you may
wonder why adventure travel Galapagos Islands was given five
stars when they don't have near the variety of activities as other
places that received fewer stars.
Quite simply, I made an exception here because the quality of the
wildlife adventure travel experiences here are so extraordinarily
high that it made up for the lack of variety. And that's why people
come to the Galapagos Islands' the wildlife.
Here are the activities you can look forward to for your adventure
travel Galapagos
Islands vacation.
Hard
Canoeing
Scuba diving
Sea kayaking
Snorkeling
Spelunking (caving)
Surfing
Language(s): Spanish is the language most commonly used in Ecuador,
but indigenous languages, such as Quichua, are also widely spoken
throughout the country. Shuar is common in the Amazon basin. Outside
of the major tourist areas it can be difficult to find people who speak
good English, so you might want to brush up on your Spanish.
