Paragliding gives you freedom

Free as a bird

Paragliding vacations have become one of the true great adventure travel experiences you’ll find today because it’s a simple way you can fulfill the age-old dream of flight.

Strap on the harness, raise your canopy and then let the wind gently sweep you into the heavens.

Imagine the whoosh of the air on your face as you cut through the sky, the butterflies in your stomach as you rise and fall on a wind-driven rollercoaster and incredible aerial views of picturesque landscapes.

Pure freedom… that’s what paragliding is all about.

What better way to enjoy a beautiful view than resting comfortably like a cloud in the sky as birds circle and join you for the experience. If the thought of that appeals to you then so will paragliding.

Risk Factor
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ – 4 adventure travel stars

Winds can be fickle, so there’s always going to be risk involved, and you need to make sure you get some excellent training if you’re going to go it alone.

However, you can go on a tandem flight with an expert pilot, which leaves you free to enjoy every bit of your new adventure while they do all the work.

Imagine… you’re up on a cliff and it’s a long way down. The wind comes up, fills your canopy and you feel the tug on your harness.

Does the prospect of liftoff at this point thrill you, or are you in need of a change of underwear? That will be the test, and you probably won’t know how you’ll react until you put yourself in that position.

But before you get to the point of approaching cliffs and mountainsides, you’ll have received the proper training and likely practiced on some gentle rolling hills. So, you’ll know what to pretty much what to expect.

Are you a confident, physically capable seeker of thrills? If so, paragliding may be a perfect for you. And If you like everything about paragliding, but lack the confidence, you can always go on a tandem flight with an expert.

Skill & Physical Factors
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ – 4 adventure travel stars

Paragliding is more about finesse, feel and technique than it is about brute strength. You should be in good shape (if you’re going with the foot launched method), but you don’t need to be in the physical condition of a competitive athlete.

For those going the foot-launched route, you should be able to run about 25 yards in around six seconds. If you can’t do that you might want to stick with a form of powered paragliding.

Many people with varying physical abilities have been able to master paragliding. The key here is your skill and technique.

Fun Factor
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ – 5 adventure travel stars

Have you ever wanted to fly like a bird and soar through the air freely, but under control? All you need are your wings (or wing) and the knowledge and ability to use them. That’s where paragliding comes in.

What could be more fun than harnessing the wind to take you just about anywhere you want to go? Get a bird’s eye view of the wine country in California, the majestic Swiss Alps or join those with a kindred spirit and take in the beauty of Annecy, France.

If you ask those who paraglide if this experience is fun, they’re going to let you know that ‘fun’ is an understatement… it’s a thrill of a lifetime.
