Things To Do In Southern California: Five Adventures In The Air

If you’re planning a visit and looking for things to do in Southern California then you’ve come to the right place.

This is not an exhaustive list by any means. There are just too many things to see and do here, but if you want some high flying adventure then this will get you thinking in the right direction.

Here’s a short list of five things to do in Southern California.

Take a ride over the scenic wine country in Temecula. The time of day and length of the flights can vary, and the

 weather has to be good for obvious reasons.

Prices range from just over $100 per person on the low end and can go up significantly depending on what you want to do. A few outfits you may want to check out are Balloon Adventure, California Dreamin and Sunrise Balloons.

One popular place for bungee jumping in Southern California is the “Bridge To Nowhere” in the Angeles National Forest by Azusa. One company that works this location is Bungee America and you can get all the details from them.

You start with a scenic five mile hike, jump from the bridge and then hike back. It’s going to take up a good part of your day and require a bit of effort, so make sure to take that into consideration.



Southern California is known for its paragliding adventures, and there are several places to do it.

If you don’t have any experience with paragliding then try doing a tandem flight. You’re hooked up with and expert who does all the real work and you get to enjoy an amazing adventure and feel as though you’re flying like a bird.

For the San Diego area try Torrey Pines Gliderport. They’ve got a lot of good information on their website.

If you’re up in the Santa Barbara area try Circling Hawk Paragliding or Eagle Paragliding.

For some places to paraglide in between San Diego and Santa Barbara you might want to contact Atmosphere Paragliding School. Another bit of advice is to go to the Crestline Soaring Society website, which has a lot of good information about paragliding and hang gliding in the San Bernardino Mountains.  

Note: Where there’s paragliding there are often other flying options like hang gliding, soaring in a glider and other various options.



If your idea of fun is jumping out of a perfectly good airplane then there are several good places to do it here in Southern California.

Lake Elsinore. and nearby Perris. are well known for skydiving, so you may be familiar with this area. Two companies you can check out are Skydive Elsinore and Skydive Perris.

In the San Diego area take a look at Skydive San Diego and Pacific Coast Skydiving. Up around Los Angeles and Santa Barbara you can check out Skydive Coastal California.

Ziplines are a great way to experience a high-flying adventure that everyone can enjoy, and they generally aren’t as pricey as the adventure sports mentioned above. Following are three that are sure to get your adrenaline flowing.

Catalina Zip Line Eco TourThis tour takes about two hours and gives you a bird’s eye view of Catalina Island Prices start at just over $100.

San Diego Zoo Flightline Safari: Fly over animal exhibits at up to 130 feet for approximately and this experience lasts for about an hour. At the time this was written the prices were about $70.

Skull Canyon Zipline: This zipline tour goes over Temescal Canyon in South Corona, and the length is 2,500 feet long. Prices start at around $40.

So, if you’re looking for things to do in Southern California, and you love being up in the air, you’ve now got five things to consider. All of them are incredible adventures!
